St Brigid’s Day

 Today being St. Brigid’s Day, a very important day in Ireland, I thought I would post these two lovely blessing of St Brigid.

 May Brigid bless the house where you dwell,

 every fireside door and every wall;

every heart that beats beneath its roof,

every hand that toils to bring it joy,

every foot that walks its portals through.

may Brigid bless the house that shelters you.

 This second is the blessing given with St Brigid’s Cross  which is simply a blessing for the whole year.

May God prosper and protect you

From St. Brigid’s Day to May Day to Lunasa,

And from Lunasa to Samhain to St. Brigid’s

Day;

So few words that say so much. Oh to have the gift.
